Rockies Rookies Prevail

A very non-Coors Field type game yesterday that didn't feature rain or many runs. Kind of a throw back game too, with Franky and My Main Man Corpas both pitching great. The Rocks could use some more of that (and some more run production from the offense). All in all, Sunday's win salvages a decent home stand with a 4-2 record. It's a little early to look too close at the standings, but the top of the NL West is getting mighty. And the Rockies Rookies extend their winning streak to two straight games.

Let it be known, I am a huge fan of a closer going 1-2-3 in the 9th. Corpas doing it two games in a row?... very nice.

I'm planning on hitting up those Dodger games at the end of the month. I assume I won't be alone?

Nice to see the home team prevail, and really nice to see vintage Francis and also Corpas back into closing form.

No such thing as an "easy" road trip, but the upcoming one isn't bad, with the struggling Cubs, and the rather awful Astros and Royals. Gotta take advantage before coming home to divisional play.

The roadie does look favorable on paper. I'd take 5-2.

I'm down for some "You Suck Ethier!"
games.

Without question, the day's highlight was 6PackThief getting chased by the large security guys around the infield. Wish the "TASE HIM!" chant had caught on a bit more......

ST, will there be any kind of "on the field" montage for our viewing pleasure?

Capt, we sure coulda used another Rookie out there! Should we refer to your youngster as, "Private?"

At least mini-YB was in better spirits at this Nats game....

Unwar Stewbag will the bases loaded last night. Bring the RR montage.

Stewbag is in full Barmes mode.

These Rockies may run like Hayes, but they hit like shit.

I'm getting tired of seeing them leave guys in scoring position.

The pitching has been solid, even with the injuries, but can't win games with only 2 runs unless Ubaldo is on the mound.

I feel you, Capt. The situational hitting has been shit lately. Even that three-game winning streak against the Nats wasn't due to any scoring outbreak. Stewbag has been awful the last couple games and Barmes is even worse than last year (when he was at least hitting HRs).

And then there's the defense. How many bothched double-plays have there been so far this year? Whenever they blow a play in the field, it seems to always bite them. Case in point: Tulo's error Monday night.

Better see some improvement down in Houston. (Riggins sighting?)
