It all starts in Tucson

TroutDog and Hurdle unite in Tucson!! Getting this Rockies Only blog starting on an upbeat start with a good shot of the fan and the hero himself. Some good pics taken by both myself and TroutDog over the past few days; probably enough to throw into a post from time to time.

BSB attended 3 games while in AZ (Angles, D-Backs, and the M's). As far as the performance of the Rox for those three games, I'd have to say Ubaldo (even though we missed a lot of his outing), Francis, and Taylor all looked good on the mound (and just about everyone who pitched yesterday); Reynolds, Zambrano, and Towers: not so much. I'd have to say G-Dog provided the most consistent hitting throughout those 3 games. One of the offensive highlights would have to be Ianetta's 3 run dong off the big unit... (did she say that?). Although he only played one of the three games, I thought Nix looked pretty good; even Ian Stewart was doing a solid job off the bench. The town of Tucson seems to be in love with Mr. Dexter Fowler, so I guess we should all be on the lookout for him. TD, I'm sure you have a few takes on the games as well...

All in all, the trip make me pretty antsy for opening day. COME ON SUPER-ROCKIES!!!!

Hola BSB!!! Such a sweet pic there! Within about a 10 yard span of the first row into the dugout, you can see Tracy Ringoslby, Hurdle, and TD. More on the Cowboy to follow....

I see people are already getting cut....Greg Reynolds being one such casulty. (No argument here.) Kip Wells getting hit around a bit today. I thought Cookie was supposed to pitch? Hope he's not joining Hirsh for an extended period on the sideline nursing a sore shoulder.

I guess Cookie did pitch 3 innings in an inter-squad game today with no residual soreness. Good news.

Did you guys get a good peek at Dexter? I am intrigued by the future of CF.

He definitely looks very tall. Didn't seem to do much at the plate in the limited action we saw him in. Sure saw a lot of Marcus Giles though.

I would also have to add that Tulo was gettomg some good rips in his AB's.

you think Giles will make the team?

did you find the new Dirtbombs CD?

Giles did fairly well the first game, but I don't think he got a hit beyond that. And he was getting a lot of ABs for all 3 games.

If nothing else, the Rocks are definitely taking a serious look at Giles.

Oh yeah, ST.....been listening to the cd today. Sounds good upon initial listening and a little more varied in style from the last record.

yeah, the Dirtbombs branched out for sure with that record. sorta weird...not sure that it was necessary, but makes for an interesting listen and progression.

As for Giles, i am kind of rooting for him and his veteran presence to win the job...then I remember how I felt about my perceived benefits of some veteran CF experience at the beginning of last season. then Finley sucked.
