Didn't the Rockies Trade LaTroy?

I could've swore LaTroy Hawkins was pitching tonight in the 8th. Or was that Jorge Julio? Or maybe Jose Mesa? Assfelt, are you there? Is Ray King in the house? In any case, this Luis Vizciano cat sure reminds me of the aforementioned cast of bullpen ex patriots.

Not that it probably mattered much. Cookie confirms the fears that skeptics had about his large contract - a mediocre to poor outing for our #2 starter. Didn't look a lot different than his Cactus League performances.

The upside? Won't be able to dwell on this loss too long....back at it 14 hours....no Budweiser tonight fellas.

ouch. wow. dead-on TD.
I'm not ready to bust out my "Cook-sucks" rant that I freely espoused at that Phils game last summer... but his contract is a joke. I dare Cookie to prove me otherwise. (oh, I'll be much happier if he does, trust me)
and the "new LaTroy" L. Vizcaino is now the proud owner of a 108.00 ERA. the Rockies could have signed me for a fraction of the cost if they were looking to bolster the pen with ERA's over One Hundred.

very frustrating game from a hitting perspective too. I want some action from Holliday and Atkins...
Gimme some Podsednik over Tavares too, at this point.
Hawpe (much like Wolski) responds to verbal abuse, I discovered.

My remote kind of drifted in the 8th inning. Turned it back to the game about 20 minutes later and there was still one freaking out!

Pods had a great debut. Rox were just kind of going through the motions until Pods slaps a two out single, steals a bag, and scores on Willy T's base knock. Tulo then spoiled a great birdie opp and set the stage for Vizcaino.

G At's non clutchness in these first two games is killing me. Two guys on the bag and he'll either foul out or hit a come backer. Nobody on and he drives the ball. We need a monster year out of G At. He's got two guys in front of him with .400+ OBP's so he needs to drive in 130 runs plus.

Cookie is my boy. 16-9 with a 3.91 ERA is my acuforecast for 2008.

Side not, 4 afternoon baits at the Shell today makes for an anxious morning.

Much agreed on G-Dawg and his non-clutchness (hey, it is only the 2nd game). Maybe he's trying to bolster his stats on the now prominantly displayed "LOB" stat on FSN's scoring line. By the way, I love that they are flashing that every innning. Seems to justify my thinking that we should be kicking the shit out of the red birds.

Cookie is known for bad Aprils, but it was dissappointing he didn't show anything last night that resembled domination. We need a big year from him.

I have been loving me some Pods ever since seeing him play in Tucson. Willy T should feel the footsteps....

Ubaldo gets the rock today at Busch. I hope we see the playoff Ubaldo and not the Cactus League Ubaldo. I've got my pirated password for mlb.com radio ready to go in a mere 2 hours.

I forget what it was at some point last night, but we were 0 for like 20 so far this season with runners in scoring position; very reminiscent of last April.

Great move by Hurdle by taking out Vizcaino when it didn't look like he had his 'stuff' last night... or maybe he should have taken him out earlier (like it would have mattered, but let me kickoff the Hurdle bitching on BSB).

Baker probably more than stoked that the first batter hit a pretty standard grounder in his vicinity.
C'Mon Super Ubaldo!

Baker, Spilly, and Ianetta getting their first starts!
Hurdle feeling out his club?
Fat Albert just crushed that one.

at least we're not the Giants?

Ubaldo seems to be settling down a bit. Five straight after 4 straight singles.

Miles' average is twice as good as any one Rockie I believe at this point in time.
that's disgraceful.

When is the first jersey-t-shirt night?

Are you kidding me? G Dog finally gets a hit with runners on, and Helton gets gunned down at the plate.....this game blows.
